Hiring a chatter without a proper process is expensive. A bad chatter on a creator account damages fan relationships that take weeks to rebuild. A good hiring process filters the problem before it starts. This is the full process Intima uses, adapted for agencies hiring their first or fifth chatter.
For interview questions specifically, see OnlyFans chatter interview questions.
Where to post the job
The channels that produce the most qualified applicants for chatting roles:
- OFM job boards and communities (OFMjobs, specific Discord servers): applicants already know what the job involves
- LinkedIn: Higher-quality applicants who present professionally; better for account manager roles than entry-level chatters
- Twitter / X: Direct posts in OFM or creator economy circles reach people already in the industry
- Referrals from current team: The highest-quality and most predictable source once you have a team
General job boards (Indeed, Upwork) produce higher volume but lower quality for chatting roles. Most applicants from these channels have no understanding of what OnlyFans chatting actually involves.
The job post
A good job post for a chatter position includes:
- What the role actually involves (not just "chat with fans" but specific tasks: running conversations, sending PPV, maintaining creator voice, updating fan notes)
- The schedule expectations (shifts, hours, response time requirements)
- The screening question embedded in the application: ask them to write a sample reply to a fan message in a given creator's voice. Include a brief character description and one example message from the creator.
- The pay structure (be specific: hourly, salary, commission, or a combination)
- The NDA requirement (this should not be a surprise)
The screening process
The sample reply in the application filters out 60 to 80% of unsuitable candidates without a single call. Look for: does it match the described voice? Is the writing quality good? Did they follow the character description or write in their own voice?
After the sample, a short video call (20 minutes) covers judgment on edge cases: how would they handle a fan pushing past a limit, a direct question about whether it's the creator chatting, a refund demand. See the interview questions guide for the specific questions and what to listen for.
The paid test shift
Before offering a permanent position, run a paid test shift. The chatter works on a lower-risk account under supervision and their chats are reviewed against the tone guide. This is the final filter. A chatter who looked good in the interview but struggles in a real conversation is revealed in the test shift, not six weeks later when a creator notices something is wrong.
Onboarding
First week: tone guide training (read, questions, written confirmation of understanding), shadowing on active accounts, supervised practice before going live alone. End of week one: a review of the first week's chats with specific feedback. Not a general assessment. Specific: "This message was good because X. This one missed the voice because Y."
